TLDR; This is a convenient Go for casual (not time sensitive) orders! They have some bugs, but after the first time you use them, you should be ready to go.

So, I decided I wanted something good to eat and that I didn't want to go out during these Covid times and stand in lines or get stuck in a drive through, if I'm going on the road, I want to get whatever I'm doing done and get back home.

I saw a 7Krave ad and decided to try them out, you have to download their app to make an order (not great), but whatever. I did just that, the app is actually pretty decent looking, for the most part it looks like it was well designed and I appreciate a nice looking app.

You can either pay online or pay at pickup and they have a decent selection of popular restaurants.

Obviously since this was my first time I decided to pay at pickup.
There are two options for delivery time:
  1. Scheduled
  2. ASAP

Scheduled
Lets you choose your date and time for the delivery.
This sounds like a great feature, it makes sense, but it doesn't work. I scheduled my delivery for 1 day ahead, the app pushed it to about 3 weeks ahead - more on this later.
I tried calling - but no response.
I emailed in for order cancellation - no response.

ASAP
This is pretty straight forward and even better it works. They deliver right away.

Since my first attempt at ordering didn't go so well and you can't cancel or edit your orders, I decided to try the ASAP method since:
  1. I wanted my food tomorrow
  2. The pay was at pickup, so there was no direct initial cost to me, even if the app didn't work as it should.

So I did made my second order.

The next morning, I got a Whatsapp message from 7Krave. Letting me know they've been calling but haven't been able to get me on the phone, and that the delivery person needs help finding me. I spoke with them over Whatsapp and called back the delivery guy on the phone. It was a very pleasant experience speaking with the staff and delivery person.

So Google calls my street something different than it actually is - no fault of 7Krave's obviously.

He went to make another close by pickup, about 3 blocks up from me while he was waiting on my call back. When I did call him back, he followed instructions very well and had an easy time getting to my house after he finished his pickup.

I paid for the delivery and gave him a tip, I was decently satisfied as I expected crap service (low expectations).

Now don't you go thinking it ends there, what about my May 28th order (the scheduled order)?

So not too long later that morning, I get a call back from the delivery man, saying that he see's another order for the same thing. We spoke and I explained what happened, and then I realised, the order I got that morning was the May 28th order! LOL !
So they cancelled the other order for me.

So what's the lesson here?
  1. Their scheduling system needs work, I'm guessing either something went very wrong with their tech stack or they don't pay much attention to delivery dates - only times.
  2. Their actual service beyond the tech is pretty decent.

So summary; I'd use them again, they got the food to me (though over an hour later than the time I ordered it for and 3 weeks earlier than their system scheduled it for - again LOL).
But I did get the food and without too much hassle.

So should you use 7Krave?
